Exploring the Spectrum 2017 autism fair

2017 Exploring the Spectrum autism information fair

Thank you to everyone who came to our fifth annual Exploring the Spectrum autism information fair! More than 300 people attended last Saturday at Spencer Road Library. They were all very eager to learn about the autism services available in our area. Dr. Gretchen Meyer of Mercy Autism Center delivered a fascinating presentation on current research autism research. We had breakout sessions about using multimedia to share your child’s story with doctors and educators, preparing for your child’s education future, dealing with difficult behaviors, and accepting and committing to the fact that you are the parent of a child with autism. We were joined by four mothers – Laurie Neukam, Christy Roberts, Cindi Gipson and Melinda Lashbrook – who held a panel discussion and Q&A about their experiences raising children with autism. It was a great day of education, acceptance and community building. Special thanks to Crider Health Center for their generous sponsorship of Exploring the Spectrum.

Here are some images from the exhibitor room, just after the public entered.
