ABOUT

United Services for Children is a nonprofit organization that provides pediatric therapy and early intervention services to children with developmental disabilities and delays, and offers support services for their families. We focus on children ages birth through 8 years old. Our center is located at 3420 Harry S. Truman Blvd. in St. Charles, serving approximately 275 children annually.

HISTORY

In 1975, a team of dedicated parents and professionals searched for a way to ensure children with disabilities would receive services in St. Charles County.

They launched a nonprofit organization that would become known as United Services for Children. Two organizations—the United Cerebral Palsy Association and St. Louis Hearing and Speech—used United Way grants to finance the new agency, which was incorporated in 1977. The agency grew throughout the years, providing therapeutic and educational services that changed the lives of tens of thousands of children.

In 1988, United Services for Children broke ground on a 26,757 square-foot headquarters in St. Peters. This location served more than 10,000 children over the following 35 years.

In 2013, United Services launched an expanded outpatient pediatric therapy program that provides occupational therapy, aqua therapy, speech and language therapy and ABA-based therapy. The program offers individual and group therapy options, and accepts Medicaid and all major insurance carriers.

Responding to growing needs in the community, United Services in late 2022 purchased a 41,256 square-foot building in St. Charles. The building opened its doors for classes in August 2023. The new facility, larger and more modern, will allow the agency to expand programs as necessary to meet the community’s growing needs for another 35 years and beyond.

As the agency looks toward the future, United Services for Children will continue partnering with families to help their children build a foundation for success.
